Databases and Gateways to Extensive Collections

4,000 Years of Women in Science

    This unique site offers a variety of resources in addition to an evolving compilation of biographies. Included are photographs, references, links, a quiz, a puzzle, and more. Be sure to look for the Living Witch of Agnesi.

Contributions of 20th Century Women to Physics

    An indexed archive of biographical sketches and more. An interactive quiz, a reference database, and other resources combine to make this a great place to begin a search for information about the recent contributions of women to physics.

Distinguished Women of Past and Present

    An extensive database of biographical profiles, indexed by subject and searchable by name.

Biographies of Women Mathematicians

    An ongoing project by students in mathematics classes at Agnes Scott College, this site provides biographical sketches and essays about the achievements of women in the field of mathematics.

Women in Mathematics

    The Canadian Mathematical Society offers these pages of resources and "other useful stuff." A particularly useful listing of resources relating to educational issues for girls and women in mathematics is provided.

Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering

    An extensive listing of links to resources (organizations, publications, profiles, and more) about and for women and minorities in science.

Women in Science (Think Quest)

    This is a wonderfully interactive site, with biographical profiles enhanced with electronic field trips, online interviews, teacher resources, activities, and more.

The National Women's Hall of Fame

    Home page of the National Women's Hall of Fame. Many of the inductees are honored for contributions to fields of science, mathematics, and technology.

Women In Math Project

    Information on all aspects of women and math, including bibliographies of publications (with a search engine), an extensive collection of biographies, links to associations, job, grant, and scholarship opportunities, conferences, workshops and programs, statistical data, and miscellaneous annotated links to other sites.

Women of NASA

    This site offers biographical profiles as well as "chats" in English and Spanish. Teaching tips are also provided.

National Women's History Museum

    This site includes museum's past, present, and future efforts by selecting about women's history.

Faces of Science: Women

    This is an index to women scientists included in a larger comprehensive database of African Americans in the sciences.

Women in Science

    Profiles of 16 significant contributors offered by the San Diego Supercomputer Center.

Female Mathematicians

    Provides a searchable database of biographical sketches that are arranged alphabetically and chronologically.

    The aim of this Website is to provide engaging, interactive opportunities for young women to explore and pursue math, science, and technology-based careers.

Family Math

    Family Math is a program developed by the Lawence Hall of Science to encourage underrepresented groups (especially girls and minority students) to enter careers that use mathematics.

URBAN MAST: Women and Minorities in Math, Science, and Technology (The server is temporarily down)

    The purpose of Urban MAST is to increase awareness of contributions of women and minorities in math, science and technology, and to promote interaction among business professionals and urban education centers.

Women, Minorities, and Persons With Disabilities in Science and Engineering: 1996

    A report by the National Science Foundation that presents findings for precollege education, undergraduate education, graduate studies, and employment.

The Math Forum Library: Gender Equity

    An annotated listing of links to over 30 Websites and reports related to gender equity in mathematics and science.

Women's Issues and Gender Differences in Science and Engineering

    The Online Ethics Center for Engineering & Science presents many annotated links to studies about women's issues and gender differences.

    A chronologically organized listing of accomplishments of Black women in mathematics, beginning in 1949 with the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics.

Minerva's Machine: Women and Computing

    Profiles of 16 women featured in a film of the same title. The one-hour documentary celebrates the history of women in computing and profiles successful women in the field today. The film demonstrates the diversity of women in computing and shows the many ways to be successful.
