There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers,
having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms
or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on
according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning
endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been,
and are being evolved.

Charles Darwin
Concluding Comments From: The Origin of Species

Evolution is more than a hypothesis.
It is indeed remarkable that this theory
has been progressively accepted by researchers,
following a series of discoveries in various fields of knowledge.
The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated,
of the results of work that was conducted independently
is in itself a significant argument in favour of this theory.

Pope John Paul II
Message to Pontifical Academy of Sciences, October 22, 1996
